Example 1: Average Global Temperatures

Problem/Question Definition: How have global temperatures changed over time?

Dataset Source: National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

Objective: Visualize data to show how global temperatures have changed over time.

Example 2: Measuring Good and Bad Words/phrase

Problem/Question Definition: How positive or negative woudl the following word/phase be to someone when used?

Dataset Source: Survey from YouGov

Objective: Compare sentiments used when using a word/phrase.

Course Learning Outcomes

Activity: Set up Posit Cloud

  1. Sign-up for a free Posit Cloud account using your UP email. Then, log-in.

  2. Enter your email again using this form - Email Entry for Activity: Setting up Posit Cloud so I can add you to the course’s workspace. You will be invited to this course’s Workspace soon. Check your email.

  3. Enter the Workspace using the link in the email sent from Posit Cloud. Then, create the following:

    • A “New RStudio Project” and name is as Exploring R Studio. This “project” uses R.
    • A “New Jupyter Project” and name is as Exploring Jupyter. This “project” uses Python.
  4. For now you can explore Posit Cloud. We will discuss more about this tool as we progress.
